Com And Its Relationship To Registry Cleaners

By Percy Kinney

COM is an acronym for Component Object Model. This is a software architecture developed by Microsoft Corporation and is used to define a certain structure used to build program routines, known as ‘objects’ that can be called up for execution in a windows based environment. COM was first built into Windows 95 and Windows NT.4.0. many parts of Windows operating system and some applications developed by Microsoft’s developers have built in COM objects. Com Objects are stored in the registry of a system and are one of the things that need to be cleaned with registry cleaner.

So What Exactly Does COM Do?

Com is that part of a program that provides an interface between objects. A counterpart DCOM or Distributed COM allows the objects to run remotely. COM is implemented in different ways. Objects can be large small or medium and are written in different programming languages to perform any kind of processing of a file or code. Programs call on objects whenever the program needs the services of the object and the Common Object Model acts as the interface between the program and the object. COM will link common objects to different programs that need them. That is why even though the program may be uninstalled the common object will not be removed. This fills up the registry and slows down a PC. A computer registry cleaner will remove all unwanted entries from a registry and speed up the system.

COM and ActiveX

ActiveX controls can call up COM objects called ‘controls’. These ‘controls’ just blend into the program and become part of the program when called up by COM. OLE also uses COM services in the windows environment. Standard applications, such as word processors and spreadsheets, can be written to expose their internal functions as COM objects, allowing them to be “automated” instead of manually selected from a menu. Microsoft’s OLE compound documents are based on COM, which lets one document be embedded within or linked to another (see OLE). ActiveX Documents are extensions to OLE that allow a Web browser, for example, to view not only Web pages, but any kind of document.

Microsoft Corporation is increasingly making its standard programming interfaces conform to the COM object model so that there is continuity between all interfaces in the Windows working environment. In the beginning Microsoft Corporation decided to use the term ‘OLE’ to refer to its COM-based architecture, then later decided to drop that designation in favor of ActiveX. Now since both OLE and ActiveX are based on COM, the term COM is also used. As a result, any combination of the words COM, OLE and ActiveX followed by the words control, object and component may mean the same thing, or they may not, depending on the context they are referred to.

So in the end we are given to understand that Common Object Model is ActiveX and vice versa in relation to the environment they are working in. All this automatic activity only feeds the registry with information it may not have to retain. But there is no way to rid the registry of this data except with the help of a windows registry cleaner. A PC registry cleaner will remover from the registry all unwanted information thus making the system more efficient.

Soooo 1990
s - Its Time to Ditch The Dial-Up!

By Kurtis Rivers

Surfing over the web has become inevitable, may searching for related information, downloading a multimedia clip or shopping online. Moving around looking for your page to get loaded would sure consume you favorite time if you still hang over to a Dial-up connection. It is time to look for a broadband connection today where the broadband gap is narrowing between rural and urban world.

Traditionally, various data transfer services were carried via separate networks - voice on the telephone networks, data on local area networks or wide area networks, video teleconferencing on private corporate networks, and television on low power transmitters or cable networks.

These conventional networks were designed for one specific usage and are not suitable for other. For example, the conventional telephone network is inefficient for large data transfer. On the either side, networks which transfer data using computers have very limited connectivity, usually have inadequate bandwidth to transfer voice plus video, and end up with frequent disconnection.

Traditional Dial-up connection does not be always of good quality and data transfer rates are limited because of using normal telephone lines. The maximum data transfer rate using Dial-up connection stays approximately 56 Kbps, but technology such as ISDN provide speedier access. Irrespective of speed and quality connection, ISDN are more expensive because of their permanent lease nature to take on a connection.

DSL and Cable Internet are two widespread broadband connection technologies today for high- speed internet connection.

DSL uses existing 2-wire copper telephone line for its connection and there is no need for dial-in to your ISP and so DSL is called always-on connection. With DSL, you experience a more constant speed as the connection is meant only for you since it is not shared.

Internet connection using cable technology is based on shared bandwidth and uses the same coaxial cable used for cable TV and provides you much greater bandwidth. You can enjoy faster internet surfing by just using your existing cable connection for TV and that’s how it saves your money in one way.

According to ITU, almost 62.9% of the United Kingdom population use internet and nearly 70% of total Internet connections are via broadband and this is much higher than of the United States. In the United Kingdom, other than fiber optics connection people have few preferable options like DSL and Cable Internet connection. Comparing the speed, DSL speeds of up to 24 mbps for downloads and 1.3 mbps for uploads and availability of extreme speeds are highly possible in specific places whereas, Cable Internet connections speed range from 2 mbps to 10 mbps for downloads and from 256 kbps to 384 kbps for uploads, which is marginally more popular than DSL. For greater ease, wireless broadband connects a wire-free computer network using radio waves and usually such type of network work within the size of a compact hall.

May be for your business or for home use, wireless internet is crucial nowadays. Having one could very well help you to good extend, saving your valuable time and money. So when you are in idea of having a connection, choose the broadband instead.

Ways to Talk: Between Cellular (business website designs) Phones and PCs Phones

June 2nd, 2010 admin Posted in internet No Comments »

By Les Finley

Most people are unaware of any discrepancy between the terms cellular and PCS. PCS services have cropped up however, in order to offer a viable alternative to cellular phone plans. While both are providers of mobile communication, there are some slight differences between the two. PCS stands for Personal Communications Services, which is essentially the trademark for the difference between the two. PCS boasts its ability to cater its services to meet the needs of the client. PCS is defined as “…a combination of services like paging, caller ID and e-mail. PCS has an emphasis on personal service and extended mobility, often used in place of “digital cellular”.”"

A cell, used for communication between such named cell phones, is described as such: “Cell: The basic geographic unit of a cellular system and the basis for the generic industry term “cellular”. A city or county is divided into small “cells”, each of which is equipped with a low-powered radio transmitter/receiver. The cells can vary in size depending on terrain and capacity demands. By controlling the transmission power and the radio frequencies assigned from one cell to another, a computer at the Mobile Telephone Switching Office (MTSO) monitors the movement and transfers (or hands off) the phone call to another cell and another radio frequency as needed.”

While PCS boasts a more extended mobility than that of cell phones, it essentially is a phone service with additional features such as caller id and paging, with more comprehensive customer care. Another central difference between the two is the wavelengths on which they operate. Cellular wavelengths operate in the 824 MHz (megahertz) to the 894 MHz ranges, while PCS runs on the 1850 MHz to 1990 MHz ranges. In addition, because of the wavelengths on which PCS travels it doesn’t cover a network as extensive as those covered by cell phones. PCS phones also work under digital technology, whereas cellular phones employ both digital and analog. Initially PCS phones were typically more expensive to purchase, but offered lower rates than competing cell phone plans. Currently, PCS phone plans are competitive in price with standard cell phone plans. A typical PCS cell phone plan starts at about $29.99/per month for 300 minutes ranging to upwards of $109.99 for a family plan with 2100 minutes.

As with any mobile calling plan, cellular or PCS, it is critical to determine your individual needs prior to deciding on a plan and purchasing a phone. Mobile phone plans are varied whether they are cellular or PCS, and one may suit your needs better than the other.

Everything evolves, becomes more complex and better quality (we hope). Look at the TV for example, first there were radios (sound only), then black and white, then color, then remote controls, then cable, then digital, and now High Definition TV’s. The same principal is true with wireless, portable, phone service. We started with Cellular, which was originally geared at being available for people on the go, in their cars, away from their homes and offices. Then slowly, as the coverage areas grew, cellular coverage became almost absolute. Cell phones have now replaced the landline phone in many households. However, cell phones, on a cellular network, have just about hit a brick wall… so in walks the PCS! PCS, Personal Communications Services, is the new wave, the upgrade, of Cellular phone service.

PCS is a complex mixture of digital, wireless technology linked with messaging and internet at its base, not as additions to the service like Cellular. The whole process that PCS utilizes is shown, at its best and simplest, basically, in the children’s movie “Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” when he is explaining “Wonka-vision” to Mike Teavee. Now, with that assisting in the explanation, PCS utilizes digital technology, not cellular. It takes small pieces of the conversation or message and then breaks them into smaller pieces and sends those pieces out in random spurts of information that is collected by the PCS and put back together. This process makes the data more secure and harder to intercept than the continuous flows of information sent as in Cellular service. Another plus to PCS service is the speed. It is over twice as fast as basic analog Cellular service, this increased speed means that data such as text messages, emails, downloads, caller ID, and even voice calls will be faster.

All of this sounds great when comparing Cellular and PCS services; However, one of the drawbacks is that there are three different types of PCS services competing with one another. Unlike Cellular service where you can link up to any tower that is near you and have the airtime sent back to your carrier, if you are registered with one service, and you travel into another service area, you will not have service. There may be partnerships and mergers of technologies and creating compatible systems in the future, but as of now, this is a large concern when thinking about PCS service. The three major competing services now are Global System for Mobile Communication, Time Division Multiple Access, and Code Division Multiple Access. Another problem with PCS versus Cellular service is that the technology is still fairly new, making it not was widespread, and thus, reliable as traditional cell phones.

Every new technology has some hitches and bumps in the beginning, but slowly they get ironed out and the product with the best coverage, quality, and durability will surely win out. Some are placing bets on traditional Cellular service, others on PCS. But either way, the improvements to both will benefit us all.

Online Credit Cards from Chase

By Les Finley

chase credit cards online, chase credit card online

The Internet is the greatest discovery since indoor plumbing. It has made next-door neighbors of Asia and Africa. It brings to your screen not just a deluge of words but also an outpouring of worlds.

The Mail Must Go Through

Before the dawn of the PC and Web, applying for a credit card was a pain in the neck. First, you have to search high and low for a pen. Then, while filling out the application form, you put yourself at the mercy of your pen. Will your pen work? It might; it might not. It might run out of ink, or leak.

After the form is done, you mail it at the post office. Your mail must go through, even if it could possibly end up in Kalamazoo. Suppose, though, that your application arrived at the bank. The lack of both computers and Internet connection makes the processing of your application slow as molasses. If your application is approved, the plastic follows the same snail-mail route back to your home. Yes, the mail must go through, even if it could be misdirected to Timbuktu.

Today, technology has revamped the process of applying for a credit card, with online Chase credit cards leading the way.

JPMorgan Chase

JPMorgan Chase, one of the world’s first financial services firms, is the United States’ largest issuer of credit cards. The company has assets of over $1 trillion, and is headquartered in New York City, New York. JPMorgan Chase was formed, via the merger in the year 2000, between J.P. Morgan & Co. and The Chase Manhattan Corporation.

Your Visa to Card Masters

Chase credit cards online give you ready access to the biggest names in the business: Master Card and Visa. These companies have withstood the test of time, and continue to provide borrowers with shopping or emergency money.

No APR and Annual Fees (Most of the Time)

Like shoppers for personal computers or Internet service, customers want their Visa and Master Card cards at low prices. Chase credit cards found online can deliver! The majority of their credit cards do not charge any annual fees. Also, most of their cards have a 0% introductory Annual Percentage Rate for a generously long period, as well as a rock-bottom APR following that timeframe. The APR is a consumer’s complete cost of credit, shown as a yearly percentage of how much credit is given. The introductory APRs and annual fees of those cards that charge them are very reasonable.

Benefits, Benefits, Benefits

In addition to charging less, Chase credit cards online give more. With the Chase Freedom program, you can earn points from purchases at places such as grocery stores, restaurants, and gas stations. After you have earned a certain number of points, you can choose between a check and gift certificate. Certain cards also offer benefits, such as rebates on gas purchases, discounts to theme parks, business perks, free extra cards, and travel miles.

Information, Please

If you want to enjoy the benefits of Chase credit cards online, applying for any of the Chase credit cards is as easy as one-two-key. You must first supply some basic personal information. Have no fear, however, because you will not be asked to reveal your life’s most embarrassing moment. Next, you must supply some financial information, such as your yearly household income and the types of bank accounts that you hold. Additionally, you must fill out information regarding a second cardholder or a balance transfer, if those services are needed. Finally, simply click on a virtual button to submit your application. It’s easy to apply for a Chase credit card online; and when you do get chase credit cards online, you will find shop doors magically opening for you.

(Website design) Are Board Games Still Cool?

June 1st, 2010 admin Posted in internet No Comments »

By Clemente Oliver

In today’s modern world of the latest and greatest video games, are the board games that used to be so popular with kids a thing of the past? In our new high technology world, are board games too low tech for kids to still enjoy? The answer is no. Board games are still a very popular choice, even with the modern kids. Hungry Hippo, Monopoly, Clue, and the game of Life are just a few of the board games that are still just as popular as ever. There is no new technology with the older board games but that has not stopped them from still being a very common present for kids.

There are also numerous new board games on the market today. Some of them are manufactured just like the older board games, but some of the newer games include some of the latest in technology. This game type includes games that use your television or DVD player to interact and display the board or other parts of the game.

The Monopoly board game is one of the most popular ever. There are over 100 versions of Monopoly currently sold. The subjects range from military branches to cities, from sports teams to various princesses. There are even Corvette, Ford, and Harley Davidson versions of Monopoly. Monopoly is one of the oldest board games still around, and probably has the most versions available of any board game.

There are also numerous board games available that are based on hit television series or popular movies. Some of these include Sex and the City, Crime Scene Investigation, the television show 24, I love Lucy, the movie Pirates of the Caribbean, and many more. Other board games have the advantage of being educational. These games include cranium, trivial pursuit, scrabble, and other such games that really require you to think. These board games make the perfect gift for children because they help kids learn.

Board games are still the perfect gift for any child. With the huge variety to choose from, finding the right board game for any child is easy. No matter what interests them, there is a board game out there that is a perfect match. Board games help to amuse children and relieve boredom, but they can also be a very valuable educational tool as well. Board games also help teach children how to get along with others, follow the rules, and to accept losing gracefully. They make a great gift for children now just as well as they used to, only now there is a lot more variety available.

Ip Primer for Voip Systems

By Isaac Small

IP stands for “internet protocol” and references a data protocol that is used for communication across a network. A protocol, then, is a standard that governs the connection of that contact between two points on a network. Protocol also references a set of guidelines or rules that govern the aspects of the communication across the network.

IP, then, is what is known as a network layer protocol and is housed and governed in a data linkage known as Ethernet. Ethernet refers to what are essentially a family of computer properties and technologies used across local area networks or LANs. Ethernet tends to provide unique global internet protocol addresses or IP addresses to users on the networks. IP is basically the tools of communication and the identity of a particular computer or network’s “global address.” IP is entirely concerned with where the data ends up whereas Ethernet references and is concerned with the actual next device in the next chain of communication. To use the aforementioned example regarding a child’s telephone, the Ethernet would be concerned with the two cans more than it would be with the string.

The first version of IP to be used worldwide and widely deployed was IPv4. IPv4, as the name would suggest, was the fourth edition of internet protocol and is used on the internet along with IPv6. IPv6 and Ipv4 are actually the only forms of internet protocol to be utilized on the World Wide Web. IPv4 is what is known as a “best effort delivery” protocol; there are not many service guarantees within IPv4 or any other IP for that matter. In fact, best effort delivery contains a number of notions that do not guarantee a level of quality for service customers or a level of reliability in terms of connectivity to any network. The best comparison to this philosophy would be the post office. While no resources are left unused in the operation of delivering mail, there is no actualized guarantee as to when you mail will arrive.

Along with a lack of data guarantee, IP may also deliver some data corruption, some lack of connectivity to the network, some double arrival in connectivity pings to the network, and even some loss of connection packets. For businesses using voice over ip phone connection or voip systems, this can cause a problem. The only thing IP actually can guarantee to its users is that the address will be correct in terms of connectivity. So the connection may be duplicated or may not arrive at any particular time and the data may be corrupted, but at least the connection knows the address and can deliver it to the address if the factors arrive as predicted. That sounds more and more like the postal service, doesn’t it?

IP, while seemingly complex, simply provides a set of rules and regulations in the world of technology that enables data the ability to transmit across a given network, going as far as to include voice over ip services. This happens because the computers in the network have IP addresses and can function within the network’s regulations. IP governs these addresses and the involvement of the address with the regulations, transferring data around the network.

(Website building) Ways to Stop Spam Mail

June 1st, 2010 admin Posted in internet No Comments »

By Arnoldo Watson

It is impossible that you have never heard of junk mail. But if ever you truly do not know what junk mail is, it is that mail you get that completely irritates you. It is the mail that you never ever wanted to have. It is probably the mail that advertises certain products that you do not even have any idea existed.

If you are one of those who are technologically inclined, surfing on the other Internet, chatting your time away with your buddies through your emails, or playing various games with your friends who come from different locations, then you should pay attention to this essay.

Identifying Spam

The short term for these junk mails is “spam”. Just so you would know, spam has become a huge problem for the Internet to solve. As an avid Internet user, you must help fight spam to keep the World Wide Web completely void of any nuisances. But how can you stop spam?

SCBL, which is an acronym for SpamCop Blocking List, is a powerful tool that fights spam. If you use this blocking list, you will surface with success when it comes to blocking a whole lot of spam. However, just like everything else, SCBL also has disadvantages. It also has a big possibility of filtering or blocking email unpurposedly, the mail that you want to receive.

The SCBL is usually thought of as a part of a specific scoring system. It explicitly whitelists your wanted email senders. If you use this whitelisting procedure, bounces from your system, of which are deemed to hit nave third parties are avoided.

What Does SCBL Do?

Now you know that the SCBL is a blocking list. But still, you do not know what, exactly, it blocks. The SpamCop Blocking List is a list of different IP addresses, which send email, that have already been reported, to those who utilize SpamCop. SpamCop, in turn, is used to block and filter unwanted email.

It acts as quickly as possible for it is an automatic list of websites that transport mails that have already been reported. This includes automated reports, report sources, and SpamCop user submissions. There is no need for you to worry about delisting certain sites because SCBL automatically delists the aforementioned links when the reports end from being sent.

Blocking spam mail not only gives your inbox more space to enjoy, it also shows that you care more about the cyber world. Spam makes the Internet act slower because of its numerous links. Help make the Internet a better place to spend time in. Block spam mail now.

Creating An Outline For A Brilliant Marketing Article

By Clemente Oliver

We’ve done it through junior high, it expanded longer through high school, then on college it became chapters. No matter how many times a person have done it, writing articles has proven to be a task many has continuously avoided. Now at a time when writing articles could help your job or work, facing the job at hand can be still faced with unfriendly behavior.

While there are a great number of people who do not have the same attitude in article writing as others, there are still those who would rather walk in piping hot coals than do some article writing. What set other people apart from other towards article writing is that they are prepared and has some methods and procedures in writing articles.

One of the methods you can use to prepare yourself when tasked to write in article is creating an outline first. Creating an outline for all your articles makes you prepared. You have an idea of what to do first and make a plan for your succeeding steps. Being prepared makes the job easier and faster. Being organized will allow for disorientation to be shunned away.

An outline can act as the design or blueprint for your article. This will guide you in creating the introduction, body and conclusion of your article. Here in this point, you can write down some of the ideas and sentences that you feel will look good in your article. This could be some of the focal point that could help make your article creative, interesting and appealing to a reader.

A carefully planned and fully prepared project would guarantee and ensure a problem and worry free procedure that can virtually go without any hassles. Creating an outline for all your articles will get you ready and breeze through writing an article in no time at all. Here I will provide you with some tips and guidelines in how to create an outline for all of your articles.

Do a couple of brainstorming and jot down your brilliant ideas first. Think of some ways to attract the interest of your reader. Designate a time frame where you can write down all the ideas that you can use for your articles. By this time you should have done all your research and information searching. Review and reread your ideas and notes, gain mastery and sufficient familiarity with your topic so that writing them down later own would be easy for you.

The next step is to discover your sub topic and sub titles. As you would provide a first sentence for your article, one that would immediately grab the attention of your reader, you would need some as well for your sub topics. To be concise, you would need to get all the facts that will support and go against your point.

These are the frames or skeleton of your article, now its time to add the flesh and the meat of your article. You will need to connect all your paragraphs and sub topics. This will form the body of your Article. While the introduction will usher in the ideas of your paragraph, you will need a conclusion. The conclusion will wrap up your points and drive in what you are saying in your article.

The outline for your article would also require you to write a draft first. This may take more than one attempt but remember that it is called a draft for a reason. Your outline shall be perfected as each draft is written and this draft is meant for your eyes only so there’s no reason to feel ashamed. As you go on, you will clearly see the bigger picture and write an article that will perfectly suit what is demanded of it.

Reread and reread what you have written down. Always refer to your outline so that you wont drift away from what you had first written down. Its not hard to be caught in the moment and get lost in your writing frenzy. Your outline will help you keep in track. All those hours spent in outlining your art

A Proper Windows Registry Backup

By Arnoldo Watson

To put it simply, a windows registry is basically just a huge database of records. This database stores every single hardware & software configuration, settings on your computer. It is organized in a hierarchical model and can contain hundreds of thousands of entries.

You usually will not need to fix or clean the windows registry when your computer is new. However, after a period of time depending on the usage of your computer, you may need to perform some registry cleaning to remove unnecessary and obsolete entries.

The windows registry grows in size primarily because of new hardware and software programs being installed on the computer. Even a simple plugin for your internet explorer such as flash or quicktime is recorded in the windows registry.

There are some software programs and drivers that do not remove the entries from the windows registry when it is being uninstalled. As a result, they become obsolete and taking up memory space on your computer.

The windows registry contains thousands of entries which can be difficult to understand and sometimes unreadable and I would recommend not to clean the windows registry manually unless you know what you are doing.

I recommend using a registry cleaner to do the job such as error doctor as it do it faster than a human can.

Nevertheless, whether you are cleaning the windows registry manually or using a software, you must back up the registry first before cleaning. It is actually a good idea to backup the windows registry periodically, the same thing you do with your backup.

To backup your registry in windows XP/2000, click on ’start’, click on ‘run’ and type in ‘regedit’. The windows registry will open. Then click on ‘File’ and select ‘Export’. Another windows will open and you can specify the name and the location to save the registry.

There are 2 important points to note here. Make sure the file type is set to ‘Registration Files (*.reg)’. You do not want to want to save as txt as you will not be able to import the registry file in the event that your windows registry is corrupted.

The second point is to click on the radio button ‘All’ in the export range options at the bottom of the windows. You want to backup the entire registry file, not just part of it.

It is also recommended you backup the registry file to another computer or to a diskette or CD. Sometimes when the windows registry is corrupted, you may not be able to boot into windows at all.

The windows registry is one of the most critical files on your computer, so make sure you backup a copy and only edit or remove an entry in the registry if you know what you are doing.
